1.Cationic hair conditioning agent (main use) — This is by far its dominant commercial application:
>Used in leave-on and rinse-off hair conditioners, styling treatments, hair serums, conditioning masks, and shampoos.
>At acidic pH (typical of most hair care formulations), the amine group becomes protonated, giving the molecule a positive (cationic) charge,this allows it to bind electrostatically to the negatively charged surface of hair (damaged hair, in particular, carries more negative charge).
>This binding provides excellent wet and dry combability,detangling, frizz reduction, and softness, while adding a degree of volume and manageability to hair.
>It’s often used as a precursor to further react into quaternary ammonium compounds (quats), amine oxides, or betaines,common cationic/amphoteric surfactants used in conditioning formulations,meaning it also functions as a raw material/intermediate for synthesizing other conditioning actives.

2.Auxiliary emulsifier in skin creams and lotions
Its amphiphilic structure (fatty tail+polar amine head) allows it to function as a secondary/auxiliary emulsifier in some cosmetic cream and lotion formulations,helping stabilize oil-in-water systems.
