Ascorbyl tetraisopalmitaat(VC-IP) is an oil-soluble derivative of L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C). It is formed by esterifying ascorbic acid with isopalmitic acid. Compared with raw vitamin C, this molecule exhibits much better chemical stability and resists oxidation and discoloration. Being lipophilic, it can penetrate the lipid layer of the skin more easily and causes relatively low skin irritation.
