Package of Dimethicone/Polydimethylsiloxane:


Polydimethylsiloxane is a‑non‑reactive linear silicone polymer. Its molecular backbone consists of repeating siloxane‑oxygen bonds, with two methyl groups attached to each silicon atom. Its typical terminal groups are inert methyl groups (‑CH₃).
Chemical structure: CH₃‑Si(CH₃)₂‑O‑[‑Si(CH₃)₂‑O‑]ₙ‑Si(CH₃)₂‑CH₃.
It belongs to non‑reactive silicone oil.
PDMS’s main functions and applications:
1. Skin‑care & cosmetic ingredient
Forms a breathable, smooth‑feeling hydrophobic film on skin or hair. It reduces friction, delivers a silky touch, improves spreadability of creams, lotions, hair‑care products and make‑up items. It is widely used as a conditioning agent.
2. Lubricant and release‑agent
Provides outstanding lubrication, anti‑stick and demolding performance. It is used in plastic, Гумени, metal processing and food‑contact mold‑release fields.
3. Defoaming agent (antifoam)
Greatly lowers surface tension of liquid systems. It is added into water‑based coatings, industrial water‑treatment fluids, textile‑processing liquors and fermentation liquids to suppress and eliminate foam efficiently.
4. Surface‑smoothing additive for coatings and paints
Improves surface slipperiness, scratch resistance, water‑repellency and levelling property of coatings, while reducing surface defects such as fish‑eyes.
5. Industrial fluid and damping‑oil
Thanks to its stable viscosity over a wide temperature range, excellent thermal‑oxidation stability and low‑temperature resistance, it can be used as heat‑transfer fluid, damping oil and insulating liquid in electronic components.
